About Crossmon Consulting

Tom Crossmon formed Crossmon Consulting in 2008 with the goal of helping families by performing difficult drowning victim recovery. Tom brings his 30 plus years of experience as a member of the St. Louis County Rescue Squad based out of St. Louis County, Minnesota. Dave Phillips has 30 plus years of law enforcement experience with the St. Louis County, Minnesota, Sheriff’s Office. Together, they offer 40 plus years of technical expertise in underwater Side Scan Sonar and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) equipment.

Tom Crossmon has traveled throughout the USA and internationally on drowning victim recovery searches.

Our training is based on in-depth knowledge and equipment use ongoing within some of the most challenging environments.

Our service to the families of drowning victims is performed for only the cost of expenses.


There are many factors that may require our advanced level of skill, expertise, and equipment. Our goal is to assist families and public safety agencies in problematic recovery cases, such as in deep water or those with cluttered bottoms and debris. Often times, local authorities and officials call us about drowning victim recovery.


With our specialty equipment including Side Scan Sonar and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), we are typically able to locate objects within a shorter timeframe. Crossmon Consulting can search for most anything, even within difficult underwater terrains. For additional information about our salvage projects .

Crossmon Consulting has 20 plus years of experience in the proper use of Side Scan Sonar Equipment and over 10 years of experience in the use of ROVs.


Crossmon Consulting has world training expertise on Side Scan Sonar and ROV equipment. Our decades of experience within various underwater terrains amongst some of the toughest situations, has given us invaluable insight on equipment setup, care, transporting and mostly, usage.

Historic Train Find

With the use of our Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), we were able to find the Canadian Pacific DC10 Model Locomotive CP694, resting at 250 feet at the bottom of Lake Superior, in Ontario, Canada.

With initial coordinate information we were able to find the train in July, 2016. The difficulty with this find was searching through the boulders surrounding the train.


Lake Michigan Search

Within this project Crossmon Consulting performed a search and light salvage of a boat that had sunk in Lake Michigan.

Using side scan sonar, Crossmon Consulting found the light salvage vessel that had sunken to the bottom of the lake.

As part of our underwater search explorations utilizing our Marine Sonic, Side Scan Sonar, we captured unique images of historical shipwrecks.

Lake Superior and Lake Michigan
This is a depiction of two different projects within the great lakes finding historical shipwrecks.



These shipwreck finds were projects working with two historical society teams, Crossmon Consulting found and provided images of ship wrecks, facilitated by the use of our Side Scan Sonar, Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). These depictions are from two incredible projects.
